Covid Anti Societal Syndrome "Covid Hermit"

  Covid Anti Societal Syndrome

Here is something popping up around the country: the "Covid Hermit"- officially known as CASS. Be aware that you, your loved ones, neighbors and even what seemed like straight laced, button down, bank teller types of people are  finding themselves in the throes of CASS, presenting as a "Covid Hermit" .It seems some people while trying to avoid Covid, therefore locking down, have seen things in a different light and are now commented to avoid society in general. Through being forced to not participate it has become clear that certain things are not worth participating in. Say the silliness of giving what you have left after $155 a week unemployment payment to the fashion, grooming, and face slathering industry. Who needs makeup when there is nothing to make up for? Bathing has become a monthly ritual and shampoo stocks are on the way down. Even teeth brushing is optional with a mask on. There is the social awkwardness when the affected person is forced to participate. They are always looking at others and wonder if those others are looking at them and judging them on the number of masks they are wearing, if they voted for Trump, what their view on science is, or if they even own a comb. The longer and deeper they go into their neurosis and are spending an inordinate amount of time listening to birds instead of traffic the more the whole construct of society seems as an illusion. Questions such as- "If toilet paper can fail to be present what else can", "Is Starbucks really a need", "How can a store saying it is at half capacity still be full of people waiting in lines- looking at each other- not talking", "Did we miss baseball" and all sorts of other existential quandary fill their minds. Their feelings of needing to belong have gradually evolved into feelings of disdain to being forced to live the one life they have in servitude to a system that is suicidal at best just to eat food that is bad for them, pay rent and  have  a few creature comforts that all basically slowly digesting  the one planet we share.. Some have gone so far as to use their cell phone as hammers after a day of trying to take a nature hike in the woods that ended up being filled with chirps and blips from the phone instead of birds; all the  while screaming "Just give me some peace". Here is the one sign that you or a person in your life may need an intervention into their CASS condition-

Here is a common Joe before the pandemic-

Here is the same man in the throes of Covid Hermit (CASS)

So look in the mirror and be totally honest with yourself, are you a Covid Hermit! There should be a government program to address this issue and/or just pay these poor folks to stay home for the betterment of society and its social structure.

Trying Common Sense with the Government

The first letter was sent 11/2017. The follow up in 12/2018. We are lucky to have people in political office that at least believe in climate change and still with this recognition little if anything dramatic is being done. When will be people learn half ass measures produce half ass results? I do not know about anyone else but if I find a pile of shit in my house I clean up the whole thing and deal with the causes, isn't that just common sense?

11/2017

Howdy-
My name is Joseph and I live in -------.

I read an AP article in the Corvallis newspaper, Gazette-Times, about toxic algae. I felt the news about the blooms was interesting as I did not know they were so toxic as to cause sever reactions in humans but also death to pets, livestock and I would assume wildlife. As if this was not disturbing enough the article went on to say the government has spent 29 billion dollars on the problem. (In the form of educational programs to help negate the effects of the fertilizers.) I felt like this needed to be addressed. In all fairness the article did not say how long a period of time that money was spent but I would question if it matters. For the 29 billion dollars what the citizens of the U.S. get? Nothing! The problem persists and is becoming more common. These algae blooms are caused by agriculture fertilizers. These fertilizers are responsible for the release of nitrous oxide from soils during tilling, which is a greenhouse gas more potent than carbon and 575 megatons of  carbon world wide a year (article of Nature Science Journal). These fertilizers are releasing phosphorus and nitrogen into the water ways and flowing into the lakes. The levels of these chemicals in the water is increasing, again let us remember the $290,000,000,000.

This is really not acceptable to be spending large some of money with no results. This is especially true when the problem could be solved with little or no money spent. All we need to do is ban the fertilizers. I realize this may seem insane to some people but is it more insane than poisoning our water with chemical that take a long time to break down? If I as a citizen were to poison a lake by dumping Roundup or gas in it I would be in serious trouble. There would be the cost of clean-up I would have to pay, fines and possible jail time. I do not have the right to poison public water, thank God. I ask you what gives these agro-chemical companies the right to poison our water. Why are these corporations treated different? We have outlawed DDT, though these companies still produce it and sale it to other country (how is that legal?). If something like DDT is too poisonous to use, were is the line of OK poison? Poison is poison. Things that kill the environment should not be produced, period!

Will there be a time when someone has the common sense to outlaw thing that are toxic? Are you brave enough to outlaw things that are killing the planet? I do not know about you but I think a lot about the planet I am leaving my grand-kids, great grand-kids, great-great grand-kids etc. I feel like leaving them with a 29 billion in debt for nothing is disheartening. I feel leaving them a planet full of toxic waste is unacceptable. Please be brave enough to do something.

Thank You,
Joseph
--------------------

Of coarse no real action was taken by the first letter and then as if God just wanted to give a preview of the results of not cleaning up our act the water system of the whole city of Salem was poisoned by toxic algae.  The irony of the capitol city, where the laws are made that could prevent such problems, becoming the one who suffered the toxic algae was not lost on me.

12/2018
Howdy---------

Last year I wrote both you and ----- about the millions of wasted dollars that were being spent to educate farmers how to use the chemical they choose to use to grow crops. I stated that to outlaw the chemicals would save the government all that money and save the environment from their harm. Noting that as long as the chemicals are used there will be harm no matter how much education is provide; poison is poison. You both replied in similar fashion and I paraphrase here, “We will look into it”

I also posed the question, “Are you brave enough to outlaw things that are killing our planet?”. Well it seems not. Since that letter the water supply to our capitol, Salem, was poisoned by algae blooms from toxic fertilizer. It seems looking into thing does not change the fact that they are poison and therefore killing the planet.

I ask you once again “Are you brave enough?” Not only to stop the poisoning of the planet from agricultural chemical but also address the whole climate change destruction that is unfolding before us?

Congress did ban DDT, why do they do nothing now? We need brave individuals to lead us, one who can stand up and start banning the thing that are killing the Earth we live on. It is not time to think of re-election or how to get cooperate donations. Without swift action your thought of re-election will be worthless as the time is coming when we might not have an Earth or Civilization to be elected for.
The time for soft political compromise and talk has pass. The time to think science will fine some miraculous cure has pasted. The time to hope somehow if we ignore the problem it will not hurt us has past. WE NEED STRONG BRAVE MEN AND WOMAN to lead us. Do you fit the bill or are you someone who is just going to keep looking into it until there is no more "it" to look into?

When Japan bombed Peril Harbor did Congress just look into it? Did they debate ad nauseum if it was real? Did someone suggest compromise and half measures. NO! We as a nation saw a real threat and came together to do something, WE TOOK ACTION. Today's threat is much worst, effecting not just the USA but the whole world and still no  real action of any consequence is being taken.

We, as a race, need to reassess our relation to Mother Earth. It is time to stop tell her how we want things to be and start listening how she needs things to be to survive. From there we can make long term plans how to dismantle our current dilemma and start working with within her natural laws. More importantly we need strong brave individuals RIGHT NOW! People who will stand against this cooperate money monarchy to create change- NOW! Thing like outlawing the production of gas-powered cars. Outlawing chemicals that kill. Outlawing plastics made with petroleum. Maybe buy a few less fighter jets at $80 million apiece and use the money for solar panels for individual homes. Make all new home energy neutral. Eliminate the insane idea and any laws suggesting that corporations are individuals or have rights as individuals.

Such suggestions many will think impossible. Is there no faith in humanity? The first oil well was drilled in 1859 while the first car was made in 1885 and though we were already creating carbon before this with coal this is truly the beginning of our modern way of being. In just 160 years our society has created were we are today with little technology to begin with. Today we sit on a plethora of technological options at our finger tips to explore a petroleum free way of existing. We just need to move beyond our fears and the cooperate greed that keeps us entrenched.

We need heroes and warriors to lead us. Our kids, grand-kids, and their great grand-kids need bravery now not after next election. The scientific papers that have comes out recently make this clear. I am looking to you as my Representative to truly represent my childern’s childern’s children. I am hoping beyond hope that you are a brave man of action and not someone who is just going to look into it.

Please find your courage and stand for the future of our Earth!

With Dishearten Respect,
Joseph

And unfortunately nothing has changed.

Gratitude

Gratitude
I feel the one of the things we are not taught is the importance of being grateful. The thing is no one can teach someone to be grateful. Someone can talk about gratitude and show other ways they practice being grateful but "being grateful" is an emotional state of being. How to be an emotion, any emotion, is a very individual experience. We all feel our emotions in our own way. Even though we all can Love, we all Love from our past experiences, which is different from how anyone else has experienced life and Love.

Even in death we can be grateful. Anyone at a "Dead" show will see gratitude on levels our society can find appalling. People dancing and celebrating just the fact they are alive. Smiling, beaming, twirling with the good ol' Grateful Dead just giving us the space to be. Most concerts and shows I attend have this same flavor. A space to remember it is cool to be alive.

Life can be heavy. We forgot what we had at the show. We remember bills, dead lines, car repairs. How boring. The thing is just as Jah and Mah are with us at the show they are with us at the auto machinist, paid job, even the laundromat. We can find that space. As humans, we have been given this mind that attaches to things to the exclusion of all else. We define our state of being by what we are attached to in the moment. Car repair -downer-life sucks. Making Love- bonus- life is great. As humans we also have the ability, though rarely used, to see we are attached and make a conscious choice to be in whatever state we want to be in. This is not superhero stuff but it does take practice and self-love. If the car needs repairs so be it, why should it affect my day?  Why give my energy to something that is aggravating? When I realize I am being sucked in I ask myself "Do I want to feel pissed?’ maybe- maybe not but at that moment I can decide. And usually the more I am Loving Myself that day the less likely I am to pick being pissed because why would I want someone I love to be pissed?

I look to the Providers Mah, the feminine creative energy, and Jah the male protective energy of the universe when I want to say "Thank You.” Now everyone has to find their own path to what, who and why to be grateful. My experience is when I get attached to negativity I can rise above it by giving " Thanks and Praises to Jah/ Mah.” And really there is always more to be grateful for than not. Look around- feel around. The sun still rises; the Mother Earth has let mankind have another day upon her (which is an act of mercy if you look at how we treat her). We can laugh, sing and dance when we wish- what a blessing! It does not get better than that.

Jah/Mah be Praised!

A quick Video of our planting day Thank You's-

Slow Down

Slow Down

HippyJo has looked at Babylon and it has turned his stomach. This society is killing itself; which is not good, but worse, it is destroying it's home for our children and their children. Does any generation have the right to destroy the home of another? And the worst part of the destruction is that so few humans can have more, (more money, more cars, more homes, more sense of false control) than the rest of us.

Our Mother, what we choose to call Earth, is all we got. We are the only animal that wants to poop inside their homes. Sure bathrooms are nice and symbolically we are pooping on and in our home, the Mother. It is fear. We have always been afraid of nature. And why not? We are slower than most things that eat us, we do not see as well, we do not hear as well, we do not smell as well, we are weaker than most. This is only on the predictor side of things. We fear what we cannot control. We as a species are control freaks. Look at a wedding, if it rains everyone gets pissed off; it is the lack of control. We can't control winter cold, floods, huge winds, blistering heat, and too much or too little rain. With all this fear, in a very early stage of our evolution, we said "Screw it- we will control- we will over come-this bothersome planet" and we started doing things that other animals never did. We started wearing clothes, taming fire, inventing weapons. I do not think any of this happened with someone hanging out saying " I am afraid of the dark so let's build a fire". It is more like fire just happened and the humans felt more secure. This of course compared to today is minimal, but it was a start.

Just look around with the lenses of "How does this try to over come nature?" There are obvious ones like air conditioners, umbrellas, even shoes. Then there are ones that are a bit harder to see-like cars. We can travel at about 7 miles per hour if we are in good shape. That is the speed our bodies are built to go, the way the Mother evolved us to be. If you run into a wall going 7 MPH, you may get hurt, like a broken arm but not seriously and you will heal. Now you hit a wall going 55 MPH the only thing left for anyone to know whom you are would be your teeth. We live a 55 MPH life style in a 7 MPH world, it cannot be sustained. Yes we have over come what our Mother intended us to be and do, again. And the cost- stress and all the disease related to it, global warming, insanity, and dead planet where nothing can live. Do we really need to go 55? Do our great grand kids need us to go 55?

This is why we are trying to farm as much as possible with out the petro-related reality. If we can figure out how to be slow we will go a long way to stopping the killing of our Mother. We need a world where the reality that slower is better can be heard again. Would it not be great to have a boss come in the office one day, look around at productivity, shake his head with mild frustration, and then say to his employee's-"Slow down!! We are going too fast. It is killing you. Slow down!"

Change the World

I am not trying to change the world but God knows I would like to. I am not trying to be anything or anybody but me. It is hard to know what that is. Why blog? Well why not? Is there really any reason do anything but eat and shit, which are total one anyway. I do not particular like computers and I am the IT person at work, how does these thing happen? I have a lot of opinions and who doesn't? The only difference I claim is I see the opinions for the pile of crap that they are and do not care to get into a argument about them. In fact there is very little I am willing to fight over. Am I a whip, maybe, but no one would know but me. I have lived my life as my life meaning I do not follow directions or suggestions very well. I listen to my heart then find myself in trouble then listen to my reason and find myself in more trouble until I can compromise the two. Even Congress is placid compared to the head heart battle. As I progress in this journey you all will see I am of the earth and the major struggles of my life are between society and natural existence. Now I am not one of these environmentalist that thinks the earth would have been better if Homo Sapiens had never evolved but rather a voice of nature. Remember nature, no cute cuddle animals to save; the  reality of a wolf brutally taking down it lunch. But, and this is a big butt (Ha Ha-junior English- pun is the lowest form of humor) do so in balance. Can we achieve balance that isn't pretty? Who Knows, who really cares? Recently I was at a meeting about wood smoke and the havoc it causes and the possibility of banning it ( oh no here we go). I burn wood which I am sure I will talk about later. The slick chart said a 1/3 of the pollution comes from wood smoke, 1/3 comes from cars and 1/3 is other stuff like electric, dust and whatnot. Now this is just a small Valley in West Marin. Wood smoke is banned when the air is considered unsafely breath. On the other hand driving a car is never banned. When I pointed this out I, of coarse, I was laughed at. We as human have always needed to stay warm, fact. We as human alway needed to drive cars, false. Of course if we keep driving cars maybe there will be no need to stay warm as the planet will always be hotter and hotter. Better to be cold and feed society than to be warm off the PG&E grid. So cars are more important than natural instinct to stay warm with what nature give us, wood. Blah Blah Blah-First entry and I am already going off. Look out here comes common sense and reality.  You have been warned!
